Paris Siminelakis
I am a student interested in Probability, Statistical Physics and Theoretical Computer Science.
I received my undergraduate degree from the School of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the National Technical University of Athens.
I am affiliated with the Computation and Reasoning Laboratory at NTUA.
Work Experience
Depatment of Informatics, UOA(September 2011 - )
I am doing research under the guidance of Professor
D.Achlioptas working on two theoretical projects.
Random Graphs with Fixed Edge Length
In our model we have augmented the simple Erdos-Renyi model by any translation invariant geometry
and consider as cost of an edge a function of the distance of the two nodes.
Symmetry Breaking in Maximally Entropic Distributions
In this project we are looking into the phenomenon of symmetry breaking when we are asking for the most
random combinatorial object that satisfies some hard constraints.
School of Electrical and Computer Engineering, NTUA(December 2010 - August 2011)
Conducted research as part of my undergraduate thesis under the guidance of
D.Fotakis.
We investigated the efficiency and approximability of Influence and Exploit Strategies(Hartline et al. WWW'08)
for Revenue Maximization over Social Networks.
School of Mechanical Engineering, NTUA(August 2008 - December 2008)
Worked in the
Systems Biology and Bioengineering Laboratory under L.Alexopoulos.
I analysed phospho-proteomic data obtained from liver cells and modelled the signalling pathways using Boolean Networks.
I was responsible for most of the computational tasks executed at that time.
